Maisam-Reza Khaku

Maisam-Reza Khaku is five and was diagnosed with hereditary deafness when he was just three months old. Despite this, Maisam, who lives in Edgware, Middlesex, was sent to a mainstream school as he had a little speaking ability. Such was the impact of his attendance that other children and teachers in his school have learned British Sign Language so that they can communicate with Maisam. This has had such an impact on the Aylward First and Middle, that the school has featured in local newspapers and on national TV. Maisam is an inspiration 'Many children in his class have found signing has helped them with their learning to read, write and count' said a teacher.
