| Awards for Excellence Bayan Alaraji
Bayan Alaraji receiving the award said: “I was honoured to receive this award and distinction. I have been in Britain now for 20 years and things are certainly changing for the better. Now we are a recognised community and have a profile in good work and achievements.”
Bayan Alaraji is a medical doctor who was forced to flee Iraq with her family from fear of persecution. She now lives in south London and campaigns for human rights in Iraq – including the ‘Marsh Arabs’ in the south of the country. She organises medical assistance and humanitarian aid and is chair of the charity World Wide Welfare.
