Pakistan: Muslims, Christians hold demos across country against anti-Islam film

ISLAMABAD, (The News): Peaceful protest demonstrations and rallies against the US sacrilegious movie continued across Pakistan on Sunday. People participating in the protests demanded of the government to sever relations with US and the Western countries backing anti-Islam conspiracies. At various places, they burnt the US flags and chanted slogans against the government and the American filmmakers.



KARACHI: All Sindh Primary Teachers Association, Karachi division, Aalmi Tanzeem Ahle Sunnat, Jamaat Ahle Hadees and Noor Bakhshia Youth Federation Pakistan on Sunday held peaceful demonstration against the blasphemous film, outside Karachi Press Club.



RAWALPINDI: the Christians staged a protest rally here on Sunday, demanding strict punishment for the US filmmaker. The rally, taken out from Catholic Church, marched on the Murree Road. Pastor John William, while addressing the rally, said that the blasphemous film had disturbed the inter-religious harmony. Extremism should not be allowed as all the religions give the lesson of love, tolerance, and brotherhood, he added.



OKARA: Workers of Jamaat-e-Islami Women Wing took out a rally against the blasphemous film here. The rally, led by Syeda Ayesha Munawar, the wife of JI Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan, after marching on various roads reached the Okara Press Club, where participants in the rally chanted slogans against the US and Terry Jones.



PAKPATTAN: Traders on Sunday observed a complete shutter-down strike against the blasphemous film here. All main bazaars and markets remained closed against the blasphemous film and caricatures.



NANKANA SAHIB: The Christian community took out a rally against the blasphemous movie here on Sunday. It started from Salvation Army Church and concluded at the same place after passing through different places. The participants chanted slogans against the US and Terry Jones.



TOBA TEK SINGH: The Christians took out a rally against the blasphemous movie at Kamalia on Sunday. It started from Christian Colony which was led by Shabbir Bashir and others. The protesters also condemned the burning of a church in Mardan.



PESHAWAR: The Christian community on Sunday staged demonstration in the provincial metropolis against the sacrilegious film as the series of protests continued across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Members of the Christian community took to the streets under the banner of the Assemblies of God Churches in the Cantonment area.



HARIPUR: The traders in Haripur observed complete shutdown on the call of All Traders Association and activists of various political parties took out a protest rally and blocked the main road for traffic.



TAKHT BHAI: The Afghan refugees in Jalala Refugees Camp also staged protest demonstration. Led by Maulana Ghulam Muhammad, the protesters chanted slogans against the US.



GHAZI: The activists of a non-governmental organisation condemned the movie and announced registering a case against the filmmaker in the International Court of Justice.



Speaking at a press conference here, office-bearers of the Youth Asian Development Agency, Syed Saqib Imad and Syed Israr Shah Mashwani, said that making blasphemous movie was a conspiracy of the Jewish lobby to disturb peace in the Islamic countries.



BANNU: Teachers and students took out protest rally against the sacrilegious movie produced in the US. Led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Teachers Association Vice-President Khairullah Khan and district president Abdul Hameed Qureshi, the teachers and students of Government High School No 1, Bannu City chanted slogans against the Jewish lobby for producing the provocative film.
