Iran: IRNA director Javanfekr jailed

TEHRAN, (Tehran Times): Ali Akbar Javanfekr, the director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), was arrested on Wednesday and sent to prison to serve his sentence.


Javafekr, who is also a media advisor of the president and the director of the Iran Institute, had previously been convicted on two charges by a public court and the Islamic Revolution Court.



He had been charged with publishing remarks that run contrary to Islamic principles and undermine public morals.



He had also been barred from conducting any media activities.
