Paralympics coverage extensive
Sir, The Muslim News keeps on surprising me. I haven’t seen any Muslim or ethnic paper that covers such a vast amount of news and much of it you can’t find it anywhere else.
Take the September issue for example, other than the political and other such news, the sport coverage is extensive. I was thinking of the Paralympics. The August issue was on the Olympics.
I never knew that we had such high number of Muslims from so many countries not only participating in the Paralympics but also winning medals. Shame that Team GB had no Muslims. This shows how discriminating our sport system is.
Muslims participated in almost all the Paralympics sport, both male and female. It is also good to see that more Muslims won medals, both genders, this year than in Beijing 2008.
Iran, the most demonised country in Britain, won most medals compared to other Muslim countries. Good on them.
Many Muslim Paralympians broke world records. Wow! For example, Egypt’s Fatma Omar broke the world record in Powerlifting. And this is her fourth successive Paralympic Games Gold medal.
You’ve done us proud.
Yours,
Zahra Husain
