Greece: Small bomb device explodes at courier firm in Athens
11-03-2013
ATHENS, (Xinhua): A small homemade bomb device went off on Sunday before midnight in front of a courier firm in central Athens, putting the counter-terrorism squad on alert.
The device which is believed to have been made up with gas canisters, according to local media citing police sources, did not cause any injuries, but only material damages.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but Greek media commentators noted that the same courier firm was targeted by the "Conspiracy of the Nuclei of Fire" in autumn 2010, when the guerilla group sent a dozen parcel bombs to foreign embassies in Athens and European leaders.
An employee was slightly injured then, when one of those devices went off inside the courier firm.
Greece has suffered from domestic terrorism for decades. Guerilla groups have linked terrorism attacks in recent years with the acute debt crisis in the country.
