| Awards for Excellence Abdelwahab El-Affendi
Abdelwahab El-Affendi is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Study of Democracy at the University of Westminster. He is the author of numerous books, including Turabi’s Revolution: Islam and Power in Sudan (1991), Who Needs an Islamic State? (1991), Rethinking Islam and Modernity (2001), and writes for a number of newspapers and magazines such as African Affairs, Muslim World, International Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, and Journal of Democracy. He has contributed to works such as The Routledge Encyclopedia of Philosophy (1998), Islam and Justice (1997), and Islamic Thought in the Twentieth Century (2003). He is a member of the Consultative Council of the Arab Human Rights Organisation in the UK and a trustee of the International Forum for Islamic Dialogue.
