| Awards for Excellence Sophie Gilliat-Ray
Sophie Gilliat-Ray has been instrumental in establishing the first ever academic centre promoting scholarly and public understanding of Islam and Muslim life in Britain. The Centre for the Study of Islam in the UK (CSI-UK) at Cardiff was opened in 2005 and runs a Masters and Diploma in ‘Islam in Contemporary Britain’. At present, she is working on her latest book, Muslims in Britain: An Introduction, which is designed specifically for undergraduates.
