| Awards for Excellence Dr Mohammed Akram Nadwi
Dr Mohammed Akram Nadwi is an Islamic scholar and Muhaddith who specialises in the study of the narrators of Hadith (tradition of the Prophet). An Oxford fellow, Dr Nadwi has written over twenty-five books in Arabic in the fields of Hadith, jurisprudence and Islamic biography. He has discovered a long lost tradition of Muslim women teaching the Qur’an, transmitting Hadith and even practicing as jurists, setting Islamic laws. He has published a book on the jurisprudence of Imam Abu Hanifah, which is the first of its kind to place the teachings of the Hanafi School of jurisprudence alongside the historical evidence used to extrapolate them. |
